L’abus sexuel de mineurs a été ajouté comme un crime dans la version actualisée du droit canonique du Vatican, selon la nouvelle disposition publiée mardi.

Le document mis à jour a été publié après 14 ans de recherche. Les changements les plus importants concernent les articles 1395 et 1398, qui traitent du problème des abus sexuels. La dernière révision durcit les sanctions pour les prêtres qui abusent de mineurs comme d’adultes, et pour ceux qui commettent des fraudes ou ordonnent des femmes.

Il s’agit de la révision la plus importante de la loi sur l’Église catholique depuis que le code actuel a été approuvé par le pape Jean-Paul II en 1983, selon les médias. Le code, qui compte sept livres, contient environ 1 750 articles.
